Leed

Self-hosted RSS/ATOM reader for users who want background feed updates.

self-hosted

Leed, short for Light Feed, is a minimalist RSS/ATOM aggregator designed for fast feed reading without intrusive features. It runs on your own server and uses scheduled cron tasks to recover and process monitored feeds in the background, avoiding the delays users would otherwise experience while feeds are updated. Its interface works across PC, tablet, and smartphone resolutions. OPML import and export lets users move feed lists between Leed and other aggregators that support the same standard. Plugins are available through the official Leed market repository.

It is intended for people who want to host their own RSS/ATOM reader in a PHP/MySQL environment. Installation involves downloading a release archive, placing it in a web directory, opening install.php in a browser, following the setup instructions, and deleting install.php afterward for security. A cron task for automatic updates is optional, with the project advising against an excessively fast schedule. The available research does not identify a paid product that Leed replaces, so no supported comparison or product-specific shortcomings can be stated.
