Bubo Reader

Static feed reader for self-hosters who want links organized by category.

MIT self-hosted

Bubo Reader fetches the latest content from RSS, Atom, and JSON feeds and builds a static page at public/index.html. The page presents links organized by category and website, giving readers a compact way to follow a configured collection of sources. Feed lists and categories are managed in config/feeds.json, while a Nunjucks template at config/template.html controls how the results are displayed. Requests may be batched and throttled with MAX_CONNECTIONS and DELAY_MS; by default, batching and throttling are disabled because MAX_CONNECTIONS is set to Infinity.

It is intended for users who want to self-host a hyper-minimalist feed reader on their own server or deploy it to Netlify. A local setup involves cloning or forking the repository, installing dependencies, updating feeds.json, and running the build command. Netlify deployment uses settings imported from netlify.toml.

The research does not identify a paid product that Bubo Reader replaces, so it does not support a direct comparison of shared abilities or shortcomings. Its documented scope is static feed collection and page generation rather than a named commercial alternative.
