Apprise

Send notifications to popular services through one interface for developers and DevOps.

BSD-2-Clause self-hosted Web

Apprise sends notifications to popular services such as Telegram, Discord, Slack, Amazon SNS, and Gotify through one consistent URL format and interface. Applications, automation, and infrastructure can use the CLI or core library directly, or relay messages through Apprise API. Messages are delivered in parallel by default, and developers can use native async notification calls. It also handles images and attachments when the destination accepts them, supports persistent storage, loads configuration files, custom notifications or hooks, and environment variables, and selects among multiple body formats per service.

It is for developers adding notifications to applications and for system administrators and DevOps teams sending notifications from automation or infrastructure. A shared syntax means developers do not have to research each notification service separately, while operators can use one command-line tool instead of finding a different utility for every destination.

The main named replacement is NotificationApi. Apprise added support for Pingram, formerly NotificationApi, in version 1.13.0. Its limitation is that it cannot keep the legacy NotificationApi service available: NotificationApi was decommissioned in favor of Pingram.

Key features

  • Common URL syntax for notification services
  • CLI, core library, and Apprise API options
  • Images and file attachments where supported
  • Parallel delivery and native async calls
  • Configuration files, hooks, and environment variables
  • Persistent storage support
  • Automatic body-format selection
  • Retries, timeouts, priorities, and escalation

vs NotificationApi

Apprise added support for Pingram, formerly NotificationApi, in version 1.13.0. It provides a common interface for sending notifications to many services rather than requiring a separate integration for each one. It fits developers, system administrators, and DevOps teams that want notifications through a library, CLI, or API relay. It does not fit anyone who requires the legacy NotificationApi service itself, because that service was decommissioned in favor of Pingram.
