Tuwunel
Alternative to: Alternatives to Slack
Tuwunel is an Apache-2.0-licensed chat server for the Matrix protocol. It focuses on high performance while providing a broad set of chat server features. The project is the successor to conduwuit, which was itself created as a fork of Conduit, so Tuwunel continues the development lineage that began with Conduit and continued through conduwuit. Tuwunel is intended for people and organizations looking for a Matrix-based messaging server, including those considering an open source alternative to Slack. The main difference is that Tuwunel is specifically a server for Matrix rather than Slack itself. It should therefore not be treated as a direct, Slack-compatible substitute: adopting it means using the Matrix ecosystem and its approach to chat rather than the paid Slack product.
