Jami

Jami is an MIT-licensed universal communication platform that brings communication together in one program while treating user privacy and freedom as essential parts of the experience. Its defining characteristic is the combination of broad communication capabilities with an emphasis on preserving the privacy and freedoms of the people using it. It is intended for universal use and is suited to people and groups looking for a communication platform built around those priorities. Jami can be used as an open source alternative to paid products such as WhatsApp and Slack. However, the available information does not claim that it reproduces every feature or workflow offered by those services. Users who depend on a specific WhatsApp or Slack capability should therefore not assume feature-for-feature parity; Jami’s stated distinction is its broad approach to communication combined with its focus on privacy and user freedoms.
