WBO

WBO provides an online collaborative whiteboard where many people can draw at the same time on a large virtual board. Connected users see edits in real time, and the server saves each board as an SVG file. It supports JWT-based authentication with global or board-scoped editor, moderator, and reader roles. Moderators can issue warnings, grant temporary moderator access, ban users, and revoke bans. Boards can also be marked read-only, while configurable per-IP limits cover general, constructive, and destructive writes.

It is intended for teams, educators, designers, and self-hosters who need a whiteboard they can run themselves. Suggested uses include drawing, design, teaching, and building diagrams together. Multiple translations and deployment under a subfolder behind a reverse proxy help adapt it to different environments. Legacy JSON boards are migrated to SVG when loaded.

The research does not name a paid product that WBO replaces, so no direct paid-product comparison is supported. It also does not establish browser or platform support, maximum board size, user limits, exports beyond SVG, SSO or OAuth beyond JWT, or mobile apps. These gaps matter to organizations that require documented capacity, broader identity integrations, additional export options, or dedicated mobile software.
