Tigase
Tigase is an open source XMPP server implementation written in Java. It is for developers and system administrators who need the server component of an XMPP setup, especially teams that already use Java. Its technical identity is straightforward: XMPP is the protocol it serves, and Java is the language in which the server is implemented. This makes Tigase relevant when both choices are part of a project's requirements. It can also be considered by teams comparing open source implementations for an XMPP deployment. The main limitation is its specific scope. Tigase is not a protocol-neutral server, so it does not replace software intended to serve protocols other than XMPP. Its Java implementation may also be unsuitable for organizations that do not want Java in their server environment. Tigase therefore fits a focused need: operating an XMPP server through a Java implementation.
