MyMangaDB

Manage manga collections with auto metadata, stats, MAL import, and self-hosting.

GPL-3.0 self-hosted

MyMangaDB manages manga collections through a modern interface and automatically fills in authors, genres, descriptions, and cover art when you enter a title. It uses Manga Passion for German manga releases and the Jikan API for English and global anime and manga data. You can record what you own, what you have read, and what you plan to buy, then view charts and breakdowns covering volumes, authors, genres, and more. It also imports MyAnimeList export files, supports Admin and Guest roles, works on desktop and mobile, and provides English and German interfaces. Deployment options include Docker Compose with Traefik, Linux and Windows release binaries, and a manual development setup.

It is intended for manga collectors who want a self-hosted alternative to managing their library manually, plus contributors and developers who prefer running it without Docker.

It replaces spreadsheets for collection tracking while adding automatic metadata and statistics charts not described for spreadsheets. However, the materials document no backup or export option beyond MyAnimeList import, and binaries are only identified for Linux and Windows. Its metadata also depends on the Manga Passion and Jikan APIs.

Key features

  • Automatic manga metadata fetching
  • Owned, read, and planned-purchase tracking
  • Collection charts and breakdowns
  • MyAnimeList export-file import
  • Admin and read-only Guest roles
  • Responsive desktop and mobile interface
  • English and German language support
  • Docker Compose and Traefik deployment

vs Spreadsheets

Both MyMangaDB and spreadsheets can be used to track a manga collection. MyMangaDB adds automatic metadata fetching and collection statistics charts, which are not described for spreadsheets in the materials. It fits collectors who want a self-hosted interface for owned, read, and planned manga. It may not fit users who require documented backup or export capabilities beyond MyAnimeList import, or release binaries for platforms other than Linux and Windows.
