Isso

Isso is a lightweight commenting server written in Python and JavaScript. It is for website owners and developers who need comment software and prefer an open source program to Disqus. Isso aims to serve as a drop-in replacement for Disqus, giving it a clear, focused role: handling comments through a lightweight server. Its implementation uses Python and JavaScript, two concrete parts of the project that technical users may need to consider when choosing software for a site. The main limitation is the wording of its goal: Isso aims to be a drop-in replacement, but that does not promise exact parity with every part of Disqus. Users who require a precise Disqus match should treat that distinction carefully. Isso is specifically a commenting server, so it should be evaluated for that task rather than as a broader website platform.
