ANALOG

Minimal self-hosted event analytics for users running their own infrastructure.

MIT self-hosted Web

Alternative to: Alternatives to Google Analytics

Analog is a minimal, self-hosted analytics tool that records named events and returns event counts through its /api/events endpoint. A POST request records an event name, while GET returns counts keyed by event name. It stores data in MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, or SQLite through libsql. Deployments may use an ANALOG_TOKEN to protect access, with optional protection for POST requests. The web app also requires the token in its query string when token protection is enabled. The Node.js server can serve static content, and settings control pagination, request queuing, data cleanup, requested item count, and the displayed time range.

It is for users who want basic event analytics on their own infrastructure and prefer a small, configurable setup with a choice of database backends.

Analog is heavily inspired by piratepx and is the main replacement identified in the research. Both focus on minimal analytics, but the supplied materials do not describe their exact feature parity or identify specific piratepx features that Analog lacks. They document event counts only, not additional analytics metrics or a browser-side tracking script. Docker Compose installation steps are also unavailable because no docker-compose.yml is provided.

Key features

  • Records named events through POST /api/events
  • Returns event counts through GET /api/events
  • Supports MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and SQLite
  • Offers token-based access protection
  • Supports cursor-based API pagination
  • Provides configurable request item counts
  • Supports queued requests and GET-time data cleanup
  • Configures displayed time ranges from 10 to 30

vs piratepx

Analog is heavily inspired by piratepx and shares its focus on minimal analytics. Analog records named events, returns event counts, supports four database backends, and can protect access with a token. The research does not document exact feature parity or specific piratepx features that Analog lacks. Analog fits users who want basic, self-hosted event tracking on their own infrastructure. It is not a clear fit for users who require documented metrics beyond event counts or a documented browser-side tracking script.
