Prosody IM

Prosody IM is a feature-rich XMPP server designed to be easy to configure. It is for users who need to run an XMPP server without making configuration needlessly complex. The program centers on XMPP, so it fits projects where that protocol is already a firm technical requirement. Its combination of broad functionality and accessible configuration is the key reason to consider it. Its clear limitation is protocol scope: it serves XMPP needs, not projects that require a server for a different communication protocol. It is also a server, so users looking only for an XMPP client need a different kind of program. For an XMPP-based deployment, Prosody IM offers a focused server option with a feature-rich design and straightforward setup.
